The Allschwil Forest is a forest and local recreation area that extends over the Basellandschaft municipalities of Allschwil and Binningen. The forest is one of the most visited recreational areas in the Basel region. It offers a Vita Parcours, picnic areas, fireplaces/ barbacue sites, the Binninger Waldpfad (Binningen Forest Trail), which provides interesting information about the forest and its flora and fauna over a length of 2.5 km, an adventure tower and access to the Herzogenmatt nature reserve. Tour
The Binningen forest trail can be walked as follows: Start at the Lauftreff, from where the path runs parallel to the Dorenbach and the information board and posts 1 to 3 can be reached. After post 3, turn left onto a narrower forest path that leads to posts 4 and 5. Further along the Weiherbächli, various hidden forest inhabitants can be observed.
At the bridge, cross the Weiherbächli and turn right onto the Herzogenmattweg, which leads through the Herzogenmatt nature reserve. At the first fork in the path turn left (Allmendweg) and go to posts 9, 8 and 7. At post 7 turn left again and come to posts 6.1 and 6.2. From there the path leads along the edge of the forest (Teuffernlochweg). At the information board, a detour to the left brings you to post 10. From the platform you have a magnificent view of the Herzogenmatt pond landscape. Now take the same path back to the edge of the forest, where you will find post 11. Before reaching the Rottmannsbodenstrasse, turn back into the forest and walk right at the next fork to post 12, the last post of the forest trail not far from the starting point at the Lauftreff.

The Allschwil forest is easily accessible both by public transport and by bicycle. If you are travelling by car, there is a car park right next to the Allschwiler pond. From the Allschwiler pond you can walk upstream along the disused shooting range to the Allschwiler forest.
